ABOUT ME

I am 23 years old, full of energy, and I love God, adventure, design, travel and the outdoors. I have had a pretty interesting life so far, and look forward to what God has planned for me in the future!! I was born in Nairobi, Kenya, and lived there until I was two while my parents ministered there. I have lived in Georgia pretty much all my life and have enjoyed the south. I was blessed to be fortunate enough to have a Christian home and education for elementary, middle, and most of high school.

Up until my senior year I had never heard of Industrial Design, and was pretty much set on a Graphic Design degree until my Dad mentioned the major to me and set up an appointment with the department head for a tour. The more I saw and learned about ID on the tour, the more I felt as if this major had been designed for me. I enjoy drawing, new technology, design, working with my hands and using my brain to solve problems in the best way possible

...The more I saw and learned about Industrial Design,
the more I felt as if this major had been designed for
me...
After finishing High School I decided to pursue a degree in Industrial Design at Auburn University. I have always enjoyed learning how things work, trying to make them work better. I also have always enjoyed looking at different products and how they were designed.

After my sophomore year of College I decided I needed a break from school for a bit, and was encouraged by my Dad to take a job at Heavenly Ski Resort in South Lake Tahoe, California. I worked at Heavenly for 5 months and loved it. Skiing has always been my favorite sport, and getting the opportunity to be independent and living in one of the most beautiful places on earth while skiing almost everyday was a life changing experience. I returned to Auburn in the summer to start my junior year.

My junior year I learned a lot about modeling, quick sketching, Industrial Design Methodology and the difference between good design, bad design and great design. After my junior year I decided to hit the road again and landed a job in the guest services department at Breckenridge Ski Resort in Colorado. I immediately fell in love with Colorado’s beauty, people, and outdoors attitude. I lived and worked at Breckenridge for five months before returning to Georgia only to pack up and head to Kaohsiung, Taiwan for a two-month study abroad opportunity with Auburn’s Industrial Design Department!

I loved experiencing new cultures, seeing new places, and making new friends. While in Taiwan I furthered my knowledge of manufacturing methods, design in general, and how industrial design firms operate. I was able to intern for 2 days at NDD Design and learned a lot about what a typical day in the life a designer was like.

...I love experiencing new cultures, seeing new places and making new friends...

Upon returning from Taiwan I immediately left for a mission trip to Tanzania. I was blessed with the opportunity to minister to people of a small village my parents church has adopted there, and once again got to experience a new culture and people. After the mission trip I had the amazing opportunity to go on a safari and see some of the most amazing animals in God’s kingdom in their natural habitat!! After Safari, I, along with eight others from my parents church attempted and, by God’s grace, succeeded in climbing the world’s tallest free standing mountain – Mt. Kilimanjaro Elevation 19,340FT. This was a defining point in my life and experience I will never forget. After returning from Tanzania I enrolled in Georgia Perimeter College to finish up my remaining three core classes and took a job as a waiter at Macaroni Grill.

I graduated in December 2005 and since that time I have worked for one of the worlds leading ergonomics consulting firms as Art Director re-designing their website, updating their corprate identity, publications and marketing material, as well as creating a graphic standards manual and planning and implementing an organizational system for future designers to follow. While working on a free lance contract during this time I improved and implemented a design for a physical therapy device that is now being mass produced and made available to the consumer market. Most recently I completed a self-funded six month around the world tour visiting over 70 cities in more than 20 countries across 5 continentsl.

While working I have been able to accomplish multiple tasks meeting strict deadlines within budget requirements. During my time at Auburn and since my departure from the university, I have been continually improving my skills in design technique, computer aided design, Illustration and project management just to name a few. Design is my passion - it is what I love to do, and as such I gladly spend many personal hours keeping up to date on the latest products, technology and design trends.

I am currently actively seeking imployment and would be more than happy to answer any questions or provide any additional information or materials to help you determine if I would be a good fit for your company.
